Stuff is just Stuff

I love stuff. I especially love TOMS.

I have six pairs of TOMS, six. Each time I got my TOMS in the mail, I’d rip apart the box and do a mini-fashion show on our “catwalk” {wooden floor strip in the living room} for my family.

Then I would wear them just about everywhere.

Then they’d fall apart.

Then I’d order another pair.

And repeat.

Sometimes, I’m disappointed in stuff . No matter how much stuff or how many pairs of TOMS I have at the end of the day, I’m left empty & dissatisfied, because there is always more stuff or new TOMS that I want.

Turns out, stuff is just stuff.

1 John 2:17 says “This corrupt world is already wasting away, as are its selfish desires. But the person really doing God’s will — that person will never cease to be.”

Unlike TOMS, I’m never disappointed by God. It’s quite opposite: I’m always joyfully surprised by Him. And I’m starting to realize that the more I immerse myself in all things God, the more genuinely happy I am.

My heart is full, but not because I have six pairs of TOMS. It’s because I walk with my God {Micah 6:8}. He brings me fulfillment, satisfaction; He makes me whole.
